reflections and celebrations: an ongoing ritual.

This blog post is in support of a new book by Michelle Ward and Jessica Swift called The Declaration of You. It’ll be published by North Light Craft Books in Summer 2013 and gives readers “all the permission they’ve craved to step passionately into their lives, discover how they and their gifts are unique, and uncover what they are meant to do.” I’m thrilled to be participating in the tour alongside a host of other creative bloggers, and you can learn more, read the posts, and join in the fun by clicking here.

Since the beginning of 2012 (which is when I made the big move to step out on my own in every way possible) I have intentionally been pausing every month to celebrate where I have been, where I am now and where I am going.

Taking the time to pause is what keeps me facing forward, connected to my sacred dreams and what truly matters.  It also makes it easier to let go of the things that aren’t serving me in that moment…even if the letting go is just for now.

When you take a moment to look back you may discover that you have accomplished is more than you’re acknowledging. Or that you’re biggest mistakes and heartbreaks were your most profound lessons.  You may discover that you’re hardest challenges were what catapulted you closer to your dreams or that letting go of X made space for Y.

No matter what is revealed, the point to remember is that the choices we make from moment to moment are creating our reality and shaping our lives.  Pausing to look back is an opportunity to see EXACTLY how the choices you’ve made have led you to where you are right now.  It’s an opportunity to be grateful and an opportunity to redirect your course, if need be.

So don’t skim over the details.  Be as specific as possible.  It’s all part of one big masterpiece called YOUR LIFE.  And that alone is worth celebrating.

{a snippet of my personal reflections looking back on the past six months}

1. What was your defining moment(s)?  The moment that changed everything.

It was during a practice coaching session for my Deep coaching certification. We were practicing a technique, which involved 3 chairs, to help unravel the inner critic.  This experienced changed my life.  It has been a big catalyst in changing my relationship with my inner critic and helping my clients do the same.

2. Your highlight moment(s)?  The ecstatic moment, the one that brought you the most joy.

My first overseas trip to New Mexico (part 1 and part 2). The travel bug has finally gotten to me.

3. Your best decision? The decision that opened up all the other opportunities and steered your ship in a new direction.

Saying YES to mentoring with Belinda Davidson.  This journey has been mind blowing!

4. Your biggest lesson? The moment that scarred your heart, inked your skin and got encoded in your soul.

“I am everything I need.”  Ahhh…this lesson likes to show up anytime codependency creeps in.

5. Your selfish ritual?  The thing you committed to just for YOU.

For the past six months it’s been all about my 8th chakra and soulful routines.

6. Right now how do you feel now, in this moment.

Peaceful and free.
