an ode to my teachers in honour of Guru Day.

Thankyou…
For showing up when I needed you most
(even if I didn’t know it at the time).

Thankyou…
For holding up the mirror where I needed it most
(especially when i refused to own what I saw).

Thankyou…
For showing me my bright light
(even though it felt so far away).

Thankyou…
For showing me my darkest shadows
(the ones I denied, the ones I ignored + the ones I didn’t even know existed).

Thankyou…
For listening to the same story over and over again
(and helping me rewrite a new one).

Thankyou…
For giving me the faith to let it all fall apart
(when all I wanted to do was hold it all together).

Thankyou…
For bringing me down on my knees
(so I could finally taste the sweetness of a sacred prayer).

Thankyou…
For giving me the strength to hold my seat
(when all I wanted to do was run).

Thankyou…
For showing me the world through your eyes
(even if it hurt like hell).

Thankyou…
For giving me the courage to fly
(and fall).

Thankyou…
For bringing me back to life
(through stillness + silence + love).

Thankyou…
For soaking me in wild ecstasy
(again…and again…and again).

Thankyou…
For cracking my heart open
(again…and again…and again).

Thankyou…
For helping me remember who I really am
(again..and again…and again).

Thankyou.
Namaste.
Amen.
