Since the beginning of this year I have intentionally been pausing every two weeks to reflect on where I have been, where I am now and where I am going. The pause is brief but it allows me to celebrate the small details (which ultimate becomes the big vision).
Then every 3 months, I take a longer pause and reflect even deeper + celebrate even bigger. Taking the time to pause is what keeps me facing forward connected to my sacred dreams + what truly matters. It also makes it easier to let go of the things that aren’t serving me in that moment…even if the letting go is just for now.
Like I said in my last three month look back, when you take a moment to look back you may discover that you have accomplished more than you’re acknowledging or that you’re biggest mistakes and heartbreaks were your most profound lessons. You may discover that you’re hardest challenges were what catapulted you closer to your dreams or that letting go of X made space for Y.
No matter what is revealed, the point to remember is that the choices we make from moment to moment are in fact creating our reality + shaping our lives. Pausing to look back is an opportunity to see EXACTLY how the choices you’ve made have led you to where you are right now. It’s an opportunity to be grateful and an opportunity to redirect your course, if need be.
So don’t skim over the details. Be as specific as possible. It’s all part of one big masterpiece called YOUR LIFE.
Here is a summary of my own personal reflections, celebrations + revelations.
The defining moment: the day I realised my greatest strength also has a shadow side.
I recently took Marcus Buckingham’s online quiz from his book Now, Discover your greatest Strengths and learnt that one of my greatest stengths is called developer, that is I see people’s potential and I want them to see it too….and ultimately live it! But there is also a shadow side to this great strength of mine as sometimes all I ever see is their potential and not the raw reality of what is actually going on in this moment.
With this new found awareness I’m giving myself permission to see the potential without getting attached to the potential, especially in relationships close to the heart.

The highlight: heading into the mountains in my new car with my power posse for our very first Winter Retreat.
Organic food. Hiking. Meditating. Waterfalls. Juicing. Yoga. Laughter. Celebrations. Biz Planning by the fireplace. I felt incredibly free + alive + fulfilled before I even got there…this special weekend was simply the icing on the cake. We had so much fun + gained so much clarity that we’ve decided to make it a permanent happening every six months! Our Summer Retreat is already planned!!

The best decision: teaming up with the owner of Ten Toes Yoga & Natural Health in Brisbane as Studio Coordinator.
This role is more than just running the day to day activities of the yoga studios (in fact that’s the smallest part). This role is all about creating a culture, nurturing a team, sharing the power of yoga and making a positive difference. It’s about community, connections, communications + consciousness all rolled into ONE.

The breakthrough: paying attention to my money is an exquisite act of self care + self love.
I’ve been doing a lot of work around money these past few months all thanks to a massive aha moment with Kate Northrup (who was one of the awesome Feature Guests in Selfish For 27 Days in April 2012) and this incredible post of hers where she declares loud and proud to use financial awareness to expand your self love.
Kate’s insights have helped me radically re-vision my perspective about money and as a result my whole energy around money has been changing. Since stepping into my independent boots in January this year, my financial awareness needed some serious upgrading…and upgrading it has!

The biggest lesson: total freedom means total responsibility.
When you start taking responsibility for your reality you empower yourself to change your reality. In my experience, this radical revisioning creates a shit load of miracles + magic.

The Selfish ritual: sipping on a lot of herbal teas.
I’ve been drinking less black tea (with raw sugar + milk) and more herbal teas…in particular peppermint tea. And to accompany my new selfish ritual I recently scored this gorgeous teapot at an op shop.

Right now: I feel loved + supported.
