{Hot Women to Watch is a monthly feature putting the spotlight on one beautiful woman who’s work I’m admiring and cheering for}
This month, it’s all about the vibrant go-getter, Yvette Luciano.
I met Yvette some twelve months ago when she joined Marie Forleo’s BSchool program for the first time (seriously, nothing but amazing women on a mission to serve congregate in this program!). Back then she was a health coach dedicated to helping others enhance their wellbeing – a topic close to her heart since being diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 29.
But in the past few months, Yvette has been shifting gears fusing something very powerful with her passion for health and helping others..her love of PR and events from her music career days.
Earlier this month, Yvette launched her new creation out to the world called Earth Events, an eco-friendly events company devoted to creating fun, fresh and fabulous events inspiring positive change in the world. The debut “Self Love and Sisterhood” event happening in Brisbane next month March is a fundraiser for UN Women Australia and sold out in less than one week.
But this is just the tip of the iceberg. Yvette is collaborating with some incredible powerhouse leaders and companies to bring nothing but the best in the form of live events, so definitely stay tuned for more.
Until then, I introduce to you the beautiful Yvette Luciano…
{Lets go Deep and Meaningful}
From breakdown to breakthrough, what was this moment for you? The defining moment that changed e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g.
When I was a 29 year-old newlywed party girl, I was told that a lump in my breast was aggressive cancer and it was already spreading through my body. In the time I waited for intensive full body scan results, I made a deal with myself and the universe that I would do everything possible to continue living in this body for awhile and make a positive contribution to the world.
The scans surprisingly reported that my organs were clear and I’ve nurtured them ever since. That was just over two years ago, and I’ve proudly stayed true to myself and my word. I couldn’t imagine living any other way now.
What has been the most challenging thing to let go of so you could put yourself first (be it your health or your desires or your inner voice)?
People pleasing, worrying about what people think of me and ditching my old music industry party girl identity.
What question are you currently living?
How financially abundant will I allow myself to become? I have some old school issues with equating passion with poverty and wealth with ‘selling out’. I’m finally starting to understand that you don’t need to be starving hippy to make a positive difference in the world.. in fact it makes it harder.
When it comes to business, what’s the best advice you’ve received?
I apply Gandhi’s “Be the change you wish to see in the world” to my business. I want more positive living companies to exist all around the world. The way women do business needs to change – let’s replace competitive bitchiness with support and sisterhood. We can lead the way and show men how it’s done.
Also “Start Before You’re Ready” is killer Marie Forleo which has pushed me through some monumental moments.
What books are you always telling people to read?
All of Louise Hay’s work is so beautiful and simple for anyone in need of healing and self love. Also ‘A Return To Love’ by Marianne Williamson changed everything for me, although some people struggle with the ‘God’ word, so then I would recommend Gabby Bernstein’s ‘Spirit Junkie’.
When do you most feel like a Goddess?
Swimming in the ocean make-believing I’m a mermaid.
What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear: EARTH?
All of my favourite things: substance, grounded, nourishment, life, purity. Everything my business and life is about.
{Now for the short and sweet}
I’m interested in… love love love. My marriage, friendships, animals, business.. everything always drenched in love.
I believe… when we die we go ‘home’ it’s not scary, it’s beautiful.
In my experience… living completely authentically and vulnerably can be awkward and uncomfortable, but so worth it!
2013… is huge. the world is opening up and ready for positive change.
