I recently received this beautiful email:
“Hi Susana,
I stumbled across your website a couple of weeks ago when someone told me about your dance parties. At the time I was struggling with the fear that it was time to tell my family and friends that I am gay. I am 33 years old and have kept it a secret for so long, from myself and everyone that nobody would even guess that was the case.
Anyway, I read your about page and something inside just clicked. It was exactly the message from the universe that I needed. I started listening to your podcasts, I contacted my kinesiologist and told her and then yesterday and today I told my friends and family.
It has been gut wrenchingly terrifying but empowering all at the same time. And while I’m in emotional turmoil right now I have no doubt I’m going to come out the other side stronger than ever before.
I write this because I wanted to say thank you. Thank you for openly sharing your truth and story. Thank you for standing proudly in your own skin. And thank you for inspiring me to be brave and strong. You don’t know how much your words have helped me.”
It had been a few months since I received an email on this topic (back in January 2013 I received a ton of emails after sharing my own personal story). So when this one landed in my inbox I was incredibly moved. Stories that involve risk and fear and the simultaneous relief and freedom of telling the truth get me every.single.time.
Which is why I decided to devote a whole episode to falling in love with women.
Joining me today is one of my good friends and Australian Sexologist, Juliet Allen. She was my guest last week and I’m honoured to have her back for more this week.
