If someone told me 7 years ago that I wasn’t in my body, I would have no idea what they were talking about.
I was a Group Fitness instructor. The gym was my second home. I moved my body every single day. I focused on alignment and great technique mattered to me. I pushed my body to do things my mind didn’t think it could do.
“Mind over matter.”
“No pain, no gain.”
These were two of my favourite mantras.
Surely I was in my body…right?
But I wasnt’.
And I didn’t learn this until I attended my very first 10 day Vipassana meditation retreat. I was 25 years old when I felt myself fully “land” in my body. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life and I couldn’t believe I’d be running away from it for so many years.
But that’s what we do. That’s how we cope with the pain…especially when it feels unbearable.
Since then I’ve been guiding women back home to their bodies through my own work and one of these extraordinary women is today’s special guest, Jenna Ward.
